Arman mogharei
My name is Arman Mogharei and I am the Founder/CEO/Director of Futbol activities/Coach at Maestro Futbol Academy.
Our goal at MFA is to instill the love of the beautiful game by teaching your kids the skills and the mindset to excel. We want the players not only to enjoy the physical activity but also learn new skills and understand the team dynamics. We teach them to have fun while getting ready for the competitive environment of high school, college, and beyond. I teach the players about having fun while exercising, teamwork, leadership, and solving problems.
I have been playing team soccer for over 20 years. I love team dynamics as well as the pure joy of physical activity in a very competitive environment. I really enjoy the mental side of the game. It is like a chess match to me- which is why the Spanish style of futbol really intrigues me. I’ve always enjoyed watching Barcelona FC play and grew up during the Pep Guardiola “tiki-taka” era where players like Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, and Messi displayed that Spanish-based possession style of futbol and made it enjoyable to watch.
While in Spain, I was able to learn about the Spanish philosophy and the ideology of how they see the beautiful game. I saw how they developed the youth players at La Masia and in nearby clubs around Barcelona, to eventually fulfill their dreams of playing in the top divisions in Spain. That taught me to focus on the long-term development of players to help them achieve their ultimate goals. I went through the ranks of the UEFA coaching tree to receive my UEFA Pro coaching license.
I have coached more than 200 players from the grassroot levels (ages 5-7) all the way to college-bound 18-year-olds for the last 3 years in East Bay. I train them to pursue their passion of playing at a high level. I teach the kids about life through the game of soccer based on my own experience. I have coached at the youth/academy levels, high school teams, and orchestrated pre-season trainings for universities in the US.
Coaching
- I have developed more than 200 players in the Danville/Diablo/Alamo area ranging in age from 6 to 18.
- I have designed and conducted 2 or 3-day soccer camps for 50 players. I trained them with 5 other coaches to perfect their craft, but more importantly to enjoy the game.
- I trained youth players in the city of Barcelona and witnessed the development necessary to succeed in the European ranks. I want to bring that methodology to kids around the world who want to pursue their passion and follow their dreams.
- I was the head coach of the freshman soccer team at Monte Vista high school where we developed and produced players to eventually go on and play for the Varsity team and then college.
- I ran a preseason camp for the University of Redlands where I was able to learn under Head Coach Ralph Perez and experience training collegiate players getting ready for their seasons.
Playing
- I started my Futbol journey at the age of 2 with my Dad in the backyard of our house in Hayward, CA.
- I joined Mustang Soccer Club at age 7 after we moved to Danville, CA for better opportunities academically and athletically.
- I played competitively for 10 years for Mustang SC Internazionale which still is the most successful Boys team in Northern California.
- At Monte Vista High School I played 4 years, 3 years of it on the Varsity team. In high school we won the EBAL 2 years and played in the NCS final once.
- After high school I attended University of Redlands where I received my bachelor’s degree in Global Business.
- At UoR I played for 4 years, started in 84 games, and captained the team for the last 2 years. I made the 1st team ALL West Region and received the Bulldog award for 4 years
- After graduation I pursued my love of the game by playing with Cal United in Orange County, and then Oakland Roots 510 in Northern California.
- I wanted to play the “beautiful futbol” at higher levels so I travelled to Barcelona, Spain where “Total Futbol” as designed by Johann Cryuff is taught and played.
- I lived in Spain by myself for 2 years and played professional soccer for Costa Brava – Llagostera. I played “box to box” midfielder in 12 games.
